At the “Moskva” Hotel in Belgrade, where the Serbian Olympic Club was founded on February 23, 1910, the Birthday of the Olympic Committee of Serbia is traditionally celebrated.
On this occasion, a laurel wreath is laid at the memorial plaque in front of the “Moskva” Hotel, and the flag of the Olympic Committee of Serbia is raised with the anthem of the Republic of Serbia being performed.
An essential part of every celebration is the birthday cake, and guests are traditionally served the “Olympic cake”.
Guests at the OCS birthday celebration each year include renowned Olympians, friends and partners of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.
Olympic Day is an event through which national Olympic committees around the world celebrate the birthday of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), founded on June 23, 1894, every year in June.
The goal of this event is to promote the Olympic movement and the philosophy of the Olympic spirit, but above all to encourage citizens to engage in physical activity in nature, spend time with family, promote a healthy lifestyle and protect the environment.
Every year, the message of the President of the International Olympic Committee is traditionally read during Olympic Day.
In our country, Olympic Day was held for the first time in 1994.
